Welcome
Careers in Depth specialises in helping you reach
decisions about your work and career that are based on improving your
understanding of yourself.
It is this increased self awareness and the ways you apply yourself at work that enables you to understand better what you expect and need from your work.
- Understand yourself better
- Explore the meaning of work
- Boost your career
- Be happier at work
We believe that career ideas and attitudes evolve alongside personal development and family history and we include these aspects of your experience in our explorations of your work problems and career development.
Whether the question is about:
- Further education and training
- initial career choice, or
- career review
We seek to focus on an exploration of the relationship between the two: between professional and personal development.
Work and educational choices can frequently coincide with important life-events such as leaving home, school or college, getting married or having a first baby, separating or divorcing from a partner, becoming ill, being made redundant or suffering a bereavement.
This service originated in 1952 at the Tavistock Centre. From October 1st 2003 it returned to its previous independent status and has been set up as a ‘not-for profit’ Organization.
Careers in Depth is the new name for the Tavistock Career Choices and Career development service, formerly known as the TCEC (Tavistock Career & Educational Consultation). The Tavistock Career & Educational Consultation, founded in 1952 by Harold Bridger and his associates, is a pioneer in applying psychoanalytic and organizational behaviour theory to business and individual advancement.
